But, Google TV is still not dead yet. Similarly as other Google products, such as the Android operating system, it took many years to determine the success or failure.
The digital living room is indeed seems still far from reality. Apple has failed while trying to make it happen. But, Google have huge funds to keep this manifest, so that can have the digital advertising market in television.
Good news for Google, the same marketing techniques can be applied like when Google popularized the Google Android, which makes TV as the operating system to the billions of digital TV devices. Perhaps, it is indeed the only way popularized the Google TV.
The point is, any television, the player's disc, movie streaming box player, and routers of the internet requires the operating system. Be it using Linux, or choose one of the Microsoft or Google TV. You certainly can not have a computer with no operating system.
So, if Google can employ large electronics companies like Sony and Logitech, or maybe Toshiba, Samsung, LG, Vizio, Google has a lot of opportunity.
However, one of the challenges for Google TV is more need for expensive hardware which is more than one television. This causes Google will make Android as the base software.
Other issues, the consumer may be a bit reluctant to use internet-based television. But, this seems to be ditepis with the success of Netflix's streaming movie-based market control.
Of course it will be a consideration in order to create Google TV, Google is better and cheaper. (CNN/art)
