The Braves came into this series after taking two of three from the Baltimore Orioles, and kept the momentum going as they swept the Colorado Rockies. Atlanta now sits at 53-36 on the season, 2.5 games back of the Phillies just in time for the three game series in Philadelphia that starts tomorrow. Some notes from the Braves series against Colorado.
Freddie Freeman was on fire the entire series. The rookie first baseman found his power stroke in the first game of the series and didn't look back. In the four games, he went 7-14 with seven RBI's, and four homers including two in the first game of the series.
Jason Heyward started showing signs of life in the series and is hopefully finally getting into a groove after coming off of the disabled list. In the last game of the series, Heyward went 3-4 with a home run and a double and drove in two runs.
One of the best things to come out of this series is Dan Uggla looking like the Uggla Braves fans expected when the trade happened. Uggla went 5-12 during the series with two home runs and also showed authority hitting the ball the other way. A 5/1 BB/K rate during the series is also very encouraging.

The Rockies didn't have much success at the plate against the Braves, but Jonathan Herrera was tough to get out. He played in place of Troy Tulowitzki who was injured in game one of the series. He had six hits over the four games.
Atlanta had great success against the Rockies starting pitchers. The Braves scored 19 earned runs in the 17.2 innings pitched by Rockies starters.
Jair Jurrjens wasn't as sharp as usual during his start in the third game of the series, but worked six solid innings en route to his 12th win of the season.He's made a pretty convincing case to start the all-star game.
Craig Kimbrel recorded his 27th save of the season in the series finale, breaking Jonathan Papelbon's record for saves by a rookie before the all-star break.
Braves relievers struggled at times in getting into jams, but didn't allow an earned run in the entire series in 10.1 scoreless innings.
Tommy Hanson was fantastic in the first game of the series, throwing seven innings of one run baseball while striking out six and walking none.
