VIVAnews -according to research, spent more than 5 hours per day in front of the computer can damage the heart and lead to death faster. The cause is a sitting position, especially sitting leaning, which is the common position when people work with computers, play games, or watching television.

The study conducted by Emmanuel Stamatakis, researchers from University College London, United Kingdom. He did research on more than 4,500 people aged over 35 years and the results published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

These findings add to evidence that continue to accrue on the danger lingering around. In fact, the trend is happening today is getting a lot of sitting in front of the computer while working in the Office.

"People who spend more than 4 consecutive hours per day in front of the computer has a higher chance of 125 percent will suffer heart disease related death than those who only spend less than 2 hours in front of the screen," said Stamatakis, as cited from the Examiner, April 20, 2011.

Stamatakis mentions, from research, they also found that 48 percent of people who spend 4 hours in front of the computer may be experiencing death row also faster due to other factors outside of the heart.

Further, those who spend more than 5 hours in front of computers per day, the risk of death more quickly rising significantly.

Previously, it is estimated that those who spend too much time in front of the computer, or also in front of the television, is a lazy exercise and led to the disease. However, from the data obtained, is not the case.

"People who exercise regularly in their spare time also has a chance to die more quickly," said Stamatakis.

Researchers believe that the cause is indeed is sitting too long. The position is known to cause decreased 90 percent of lipoprotein lipase and enzyme in healthy heart. Swelling and metabolic problems caused by inactivity in the time lengths also became the source of the problem.

However, there is a solution for those who are forced to work in front of the computer all day. "You have to get up every 20 minutes and walk for a moment," said Stamatakis. "It will reduce the problems and probably will increase your chances of living longer," he said. (sj)
